Every Distance is Not Near
"Every Distance is Not Near" features three artists from the Seattle area – Debra Baxter, Dawn Cerny and Jenny Heishman – who use unique abstract languages to create sculpture based in historical and narrative elements. The structure is an untraditional three–person arrangement as the artists were invited to create an exhibition based both on their own works and in collaboration with each other. As sung by Nina Simone, the title of the exhibition "Every Distance is Not Near" is from Bob Dylan's song "I Shall Be Released"; it was the only element directed by Sheppard Gallery. How the artists interpret this theme will be part of the excitement of the show's development.
